Steve Diamond, the Director of Rugby of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Sale Sharks has not ruled out adding further personnel to the squad if injury problems still persist with the side.
The Sharks recently signed Tongan international forward Viliami Fihaki for the side with the team dreadfully short of options in that position and this could lead to more players coming in.
Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester, Diamond stated that the team is running with just two hookers and two scrum halves going on to add that if any of the players in those positions took a knock, then he would have to go into the market before mentioning that there are resources available to make the moves.
Fihaki made his debut for the Sale Sharks in their LV=Cup encounter against Harlequins FC in a winning cause but he will not be available for selection when the Salford based side returns to action in the Aviva Premiership against the Worcester Warriors this weekend.
Instead, he will be a part of the team’s B-team, the Jets as he tries and adjusts to life in English rugby after making the switch to the Aviva Premiership from North Harbor in New Zealand.
The Sharks have made a decent start to the Aviva Premiership season this time with three wins from their first seven encounters and doing well enough in the pool stages of the cup competitions as well where as the Warriors have started the season with seven defeats on the bounce, the same record that the Sale Sharks boasted of last season.
And Diamond believes the team’s performances last season was just a blip and he added that there is absolutely no way they will want a repeat of that kind of a run of form this season.
