Henry Thomas, who plays at prop for the Aviva Premiership Rugby Football Union club the Sale Sharks, has spoken of his frustration at being injured during a time when The Sharks endured their worst run in the Premiership for years, and he was unable to help the side.
He has only made two appearances for the relegation battlers of this season’s Premiership but was ruled out after an injury, and now he is fit again and ready to return to action, hoping to turn the season around for the club.
Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester, the 21 year old prop stated that when one is on the sidelines due to an injury, he is stuck all day in the gym, trying to get better faster and return to action and when his team is playing so poorly, the urge to return quickly and help the team increases greatly. He added that at this time, watching a game of rugby becomes very frustrating for a player indeed. Moreover, it is also hard to watch one’s own team getting beaten almost every day, and that is something that the Sale Sharks have been doing a lot over the last one year.
But he went on to add that credit must go to the players for cracking down and getting the team back on some kind of a roll at the moment and things can only get better from here. After his return from injury, Thomas was named as the 24th man in the England squad against Ireland and the Sale Sharks man believes it will be a valuable experience.
Thomas stated that it was brilliant training with the players in the squad and getting to know them and he added that he got to learn a lot from training with those seasoned professionals.
